Deerhunter's first visit to Australia in 2009 will long be remembered with sell-out shows all across Australia and some of the finest live music moments in recent memories. They make their second visit to our shores this February.
The quartet of Bradford Cox, Lockett Pundt, Joshua Fauver and Moses Archuleta have established themselves as one of the most innovative and important bands to emerge from the US in recent years. Halycon Digest, their latest full-length release, was recorded in their home state (Georgia) and is already being widely hailed—by critics and fans alike—as their best yet. Matthew Perpetua of Fluxblog praises the musicianship of drummer Archuleta, guiding the epic listeners through the epic first single, ‘He Would Have Laughed’. “This is their most sophisticated and graceful piece of music”, he says. This (the last) track on the album was recorded in Marietta and is dedicated to musician Jay Reatard who sadly passed away earlier this year; the band collaborated with the Memphis musician in 2008 to release a split 7” where they covered each otherʼs songs.
