“Voguish nod to retro synth pop” - New York Times
Baltimore based duo, Wye Oak (Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack) will bring their newly regenerated indie-pop to Australian shores this Summer for the very first time.
Their tour will treat audiences to their newly reformed sound and musical set up. Not resting on their laurels after the success of their 2011 record, Civilian the band opted to include spotlight instrumental and R&B influences into their emotive follow up release. In, Shriek (their latest album) guitars were swapped for synthesizers and melodic instrumental deviations were favoured to lyric heavy stanzas. The resulting product is bouncing melodies developed with looping and heavy layers of reverbing aural haze. The expansive sound created by two single bodies will surely impress, if not wholly consume audiences throughout their performance.
