Sacramento’s Ganglians return two years on from their dual album dropping in 2009. The aptly titled Still Living hits the streets August 29, 2011 on Popfrenzy.

Ringing in at just under an hour, the double LP stays true to their psychedelic roots established on their self-title debut and immediate follow-up Monster Head Room (both via Woodsist), they step it up a notch both stylistically and sonically by enlisting the help of producer Robby Moncrieff (who also played a crucial role in the shaping of The Dirty Projectors Bitte Orca).

Don’t be fooled, for a second. “This is a sad, sad song / For all you sad, sad people,” announces Ganglians’ creative core and lead singer Ryan Grubbs at the outset of the Sacramento-based band’s second LP, Still Living. The guitars, strummed with sun- rays, and the percussion, sprightly with springtime enthusiasm, tell a different tale.

And it’s certainly hard to feel blue with music like this for company.
