Gently traipsing the line between experimentation and melody over four albums, Xiu Xiu have confirmed their status as one of the most exciting acts of this century. It’s a pretty huge call to be making, but over the last couple of years there’s been very little that challenges ones listening in quite the same way that Xiu Xiu does.

In the vast melee of cardboard cut-out musicians that dictate contemporary music, Xiu Xiu offers something different, and for the first time ever is bringing that live show to Australia. On the eve of this tour the now two piece are releasing an Australia/ New Zealand tour EP exclusive to Popfrenzy records, something that almost matches the excitement that the prospect of Xiu Xiu live garners around the office. This limited edition release is a collection of rarities, remixes and covers that captures the diversity of Xiu Xiu over the duration of eight songs.

Exploring thoroughly the full extent of Xiu Xiu’s repertoire, the EP captures the noise, random fragility, unique sensibilities and spontaneous expressions that Xiu Xiu so ingeniously execute. On it Jamie and Cara Lee revisit the joys of La Forêt, offer tracks up for total reworkings by noise manipulator The Cherry Point and put forward their interpretations of esteemed artists Nedelle (KRS) and Australia’s very own Bad Seeds.

We’re excited. You should be too.
